The Housatonic Community College Foundation (HCCF) announces the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors: Valerie King and Mark Floramo. These appointments bring the total number of current HCCF Board members to 18.

“Our Board of dedicated and accomplished leaders is thrilled to welcome Valerie and Mark. Their experience, perspective and commitment will help us continue our work to support Housatonic students for years to come,” said HCCF Board Chair, Judith Corprew.

HCCF assists Housatonic Community College and its students by expanding access to quality, affordable higher education and workforce development training. They do this through a robust scholarship program, equity programs that support marginalized students, emergency assistance, book funds, and more.

“I grew up in the community that HCC serves and I've seen the impact that the accessibility of a Community College education can have on personal lives and families starting with my own mother and family,” says Valerie King, recent appointee. “Serving on the HCC Foundation Board will allow me to help continue the mission of supporting higher education for our local community in a more direct way. It should be accessible and enriching for those who choose to pursue it.”

Valerie King began her career in real estate in 2008 as an investor of residential and commercial properties. In 2010 she joined Keller Williams Realty, quickly became a top seller, and joined the Agent Leadership Council in 2013. Today, the Valerie King Team at Keller Williams is one of the top teams in the market. Valerie serves her community as a national and regional Social Equity Task Force leader focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion issues, and is a Board Member for KW Cares and the Minority Business Association in Bridgeport.

“I'm really excited to be a part of the Foundation to engage, assist and support the local community.  Working with small business owners every day, one of my passions is seeing how those businesses got started,” says Mark Floramo. “Housatonic Community College offers a tremendous opportunity for students to excel and achieve their goals."

Mark Floramo is Vice President of Commercial Lending for TD Bank as a Relationship Manager covering both Fairfield and Westchester Counties. He uses his 17 years of banking experience to lead at TD Bank, where he has served for the past 13 years.  Floramo is a vibrant supporter of many local organizations, has served on several boards, and is excited to bring his expertise to Housatonic. He is a proud graduate of Western New England University and currently resides in Monroe with his wife, Wendy, an elementary school teacher in Stratford, and their five children.
