Scholarship enables five students to reach academic goals

The Housatonic Community College Foundation is proud to announce its meaningful partnership with Fairfield County Bank, whose generous scholarship support has empowered CT State Housatonic students for the past three years. This past year, Fairfield County Bank Scholarships enabled three students in financial need to pursue their education in Business and Finance.

Recently, representatives from Fairfield County Bank visited the campus to meet some of the scholarship recipients and see firsthand the impact of their donation. The scholarships provided by the Bank support students facing significant financial challenges to continue their education and work towards their career goals.

“Investing in the education of students is an investment in the future of our community,” said Fairfield County Bank President, Daniel Berta. “Each of their stories is incredibly impactful and can motivate other students to pursue higher education. We are honored to support this step of their academic journey.”

One of the recipients, Claudia, is close to completing her degree in Business Administration while managing her household and the challenges of being a mother of four. Allison will soon become the first college graduate in her family, while Vanessa is on track to earn her Business Administration associate degree, inspired to set a strong example for her children.

“We deeply appreciate Fairfield County Bank’s unwavering commitment to our students and the importance of higher education,” said Dr. Dwayne Gomez, Interim CEO of CT State Housatonic. “Their support increases access to our learning and career development community and provides essential opportunities for individuals to change their life trajectories and enter secure, financially stable career paths. We appreciate that they go over and beyond the financial support by providing representation on the HCC Foundation’s Board of Directors through Jennifer Cutrali. Their commitment to community is outstanding and we are fortunate to be a partner.”

Since its establishment over 30 years ago, the Housatonic Community College Foundation has been dedicated to supporting students through scholarships that help cover tuition, books, and fees not covered by state aid and assistance. This partnership with Fairfield County Bank exemplifies the Foundation’s commitment to making college accessible and affordable for students, particularly those who are low-income and historically marginalized.
