The Housatonic Foundation, Inc. Scholarship Application allows Housatonic Home Campus students to apply for all scholarships with one online application! We will match awardees with scholarships based on your answers.
Criteria/Qualifications/Guidelines
- Required to Apply: Both your student ID (12345678) and college email (JDoe0001@mail.ct.edu) are both required.
- Contact Admissions for a student ID and email. (You are not required to enroll in classes to submit your application.) HC-Admissions@ctstate.edu
- Apply if you: pay out of pocket, are international, undocumented, DACA, etc., or receive less than 100% in financial aid.
- All Housatonic Home Campus students may apply: THAT MEANS All, existing, credit, non-credit, certificate, continuing education, Workforce Development, full-time and part-time.
- DegreeWorks Transcripts: Upload a PDF of your DegreeWorks Transcript from college or We need to see your grades and classes.
- Bill/Schedule: Upload a PDF of your latest college bill.
- GPA: 2.0 minimum required
- Essay required: Answer: "Why do you need a scholarship?"
- Apply ASAP, before the funds run out!
NOTE: If you have any US college degree, you do NOT qualify for any HCCF scholarships. (Same as all other students )
Financial Aid vs. Housatonic Foundation Scholarships
- The HCC Foundation, Inc. is separate from the Financial Aid office and is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization.
- All U.S. citizens and permanent residents planning to take credit classes are required to apply for financial aid before the start of each year. https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
- Students taking Workforce Development/CE classes do not qualify for FAFSA. These student should be apply for scholarships if they are not getting assistance from internal or external resources.
- NOTE: If you have any US college degree, you do NOT qualify for any HCCF scholarships. (Same as all other students )

- If you qualify for federal, state, or other funding, you are required to accept that first.
- If your financial aid covers your CT State Housatonic classes, you will not qualify for a scholarship.
- If you were only offered a loan or were declined for financial aid, you are required to explain why.
- If Housatonic Financial Aid says you cannot apply for aid through their office, explain why in your application.
- Suggestion: Confirm your financial aid before the upcoming semester. HC-FinAid@hcc.commnet.edu
Applying and Submitting Your Application:
- Check HousatonicFoundation.org before each of your courses start; if the application is open, you will see it in the top right corner of the website. Apply there!
- As soon as we receive your application, you will receive a confirmation email.
- Unlike other Foundations, HCC Foundation informs students if they have been awarded before the first day of class.
What may and may not be covered?
- Housatonic Scholarships are ONLY for required Housatonic programs and classes.
- Non-matriculating classes and classes being audited or taken for fun will NOT be covered.
- Housatonic home campus students: If awarded in the fall or spring, the scholarship may cover a portion of Housatonic tuition for up to the RATE of 12 required credits. (All at the in-state tuition rate.)
- NEW Housatonic home campus students with no GPA - If awarded in the fall or spring, the scholarship may cover Housatonic tuition up to the RATE of 3 required credits. (All at the in-state tuition rate.)
- The award varies based on each student's required classes and the Foundation's budget. (all at the CT State Community College in-state tuition rate)
- Foundation awards are not transferable to other semesters, people, or colleges and are invalid if not used.
- Awards do not cover books, online key codes, lab fees, tools, supplemental supplies, materials, late fees, etc.

Should You Apply?
Who Might Qualify?
- Housatonic Scholarships are for Housatonic Home campus Students who do not hold or have earned a US college degree.
- Housatonic Foundation scholarships are awarded to Housatonic home campus students taking classes at the CT State Housatonic campus.
- Good academic and financial standing at college is required.
- Students with 74 credits or less may only if have not earned any degree yet.
- GPA of 2.00 or higher may to qualify
- These are low-income, need-based, last-dollar scholarships - Proof is required
- You have no outstanding loans and/or debt to CT State College, you may qualify
Who Does NOT Qualify?
- Students with 100% in funding for classes through any source do not qualify for scholarships.
- Anyone and everyone with any U.S. college degree is not eligible, (including a Housatonic Degree.)
- Students not in academic and/or financial standing to attend college.
- Anyone who has ever earned 75 credits or more does not qualify
- Students enrolled at any other college do not qualify and should inquire at their home campus' Foundation
- Students who walked on any college graduation stage to receive a degree do not qualify (including a Housatonic)
- Students attending 4-year colleges do not qualify.
- GPAs below 2.0 do not qualify.
- These are low-income, need-based, last-dollar scholarships - if this is not your situation, you do not qualify
- You are required to pay all outstanding loans and/or debt to CT State College before applying
- Students lying on their application will never qualify for scholarslhips
- Students suspended from college or on college probation do not qualify

If you are awarded:
- Once the review is complete, the awardee names, Banner IDs and amounts will be given to the Bursar.
- The Bursar credits the Awardees accounts behind the scenes.
- You will receive an award email stating the award amount. (keep that email and refer to it if you have questions)
- You will receive an agreement email after classes start requesting you to upload a thank you note and photo
- It is mandatory that you accept the scholarship agreement when the Foundation emails you.
- If your financial aid covers 100% of your semester fees, you must decline the scholarship for the semester.
- If you have a college degree from Housatonic or any other college you must decline the scholarship.
- Generous donations from Housatonic Foundation donors make it possible for us to assist CT State Housatonic students.
- Housatonic Foundation donors may inquire about your major, grades, and activities and ask to meet with you.
Awardee’s first name, photo, image, thank you note, or quote may be used in donor communications, PR, advertising, or events
- You are required to volunteer at Housatonic Foundation Inc. and/or at CT State Housatonic events.
- (including, but not limited to on campus events, HCCF photo shoots, marketing, videos, and letter writing)
- You are required to report any changes in your financial status, including awards for CT State College tuition and fees.
- You are required to notify the Foundation of any W, I, or NC grades. This may result in ineligibility for future scholarships or assistance.
- You are required to complete all your courses, or you will be responsible for all charges incurred if you withdraw.
- Once the Bursar invoices the Foundation, your account credit will be visible.
- If paid upfront and then awarded, the college may reimburse you up to the amount noted in the award email.
- Inform the Alumni Association of your status for a minimum of 2 years after graduation or transfer, or better yet, get involved.

TIPS & HINTS
- Read and answer everything in the application, but don’t wait until the last minute.
- Make sure your essay's character count is correct, or you will not be able to submit your application. (There is a counter below the Essay box)
- Use Grammarly.com or MS Word before pasting your essay into the application.
- Take advantage of the tutoring and writing center. They will help you with your application!
Privacy Notice and Consent:
CT State Housatonic is committed to your success, including securing your personal information and maintaining your privacy when we collect personal information. If you apply for a scholarship, the Housatonic Foundation (“We”) will only use your application information for the purpose of determining scholarship eligibility and administering scholarship benefits, if awarded. If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, we may disclose your name, GPA, and information from your personal statement to Housatonic Foundation donors (“Donors”) for the purpose of relaying the value of their contributions to the Housatonic community. We may also include your name, photograph, if applicable, and personal statement in the annual report for the purpose of informing the broader community about your success. To administer scholarship payments, we will provide your name, Banner ID, and e-mail address so that scholarship benefits can be accurately distributed. By submitting this scholarship application, you are providing official consent for your personal information provided as part of the application to be used for the purposes described in the privacy notification.
Consent to Determine Financial Need:
I consent to the disclosure of limited information from my educational record to the Housatonic Foundation, Inc. (“the Foundation”) from CT State Housatonic (“the College”). This disclosure shall include a determination of whether I have filed a FAFSA with the college, my expected family contribution, my financial aid award information from federal, state, institutional, and other sources, and my charges for tuition and fees related to my attendance at the college. I understand that this information will be used for the limited purpose of the Foundation, which is to review my scholarship application materials and make a determination as to my eligibility for an award from the Foundation. I understand that my consent to the disclosure of the aforementioned information from my educational record is valid only for the current academic year.
Acknowledgment:
I understand that the funds in my financial aid package will be used before I receive additional funding, and that the funds are not transferable to other CT State campuses. Balances will not be paid out.
