Up to Five Economically Disadvantaged Students Majoring in Finance or Business Will Receive Funding for Their Undergraduate Studies.
With a $5,000 pledge, Fairfield County Bank has established a scholarship program at Housatonic Community College (HCC), investing in educational attainment for high-potential, in-need students throughout Fairfield County.
The creation of the Fairfield County Bank Scholarship, administered by the Housatonic Community College Foundation, will support up to five low-income HCC students pursuing a Finance or Business major. Chosen scholarship recipients will be residents of Fairfield County.
Founded in 1871, with headquarters in Ridgefield, Connecticut, Fairfield County Bank is a $1.9 billion community bank with 17 locations throughout Fairfield County.
“In reviewing the scholarship applications, I see first-hand how vital the funds are for our students in need. We are able to provide students with access to a bright future through a good quality education,” said Jennifer Cutrali, Fairfield County Bank VP, Credit Administration Manager and Housatonic Community College Foundation Board Member.
Higher education has never been more expensive, making the cost of a degree unmanageable for many students. For low-income students, scholarships are imperative, often providing their only avenue into post-secondary education.
“Generous scholarships such as the Fairfield County Bank Scholarship offer hard-working, determined students an opportunity to complete their post-secondary education, setting them up for success in the workplace,” said Kristy Jelenik, Executive Director of the Housatonic Community College Foundation.
