Food Pantry

The Housatonic Food Pantry is a client-choice pantry that provides food and basic needs assistance in a private, safe, and friendly environment located in Lafayette Hall.   Students may visit the pantry up to twice monthly, and take up to a total of 10 units of non-perishables, 4 units of produce, and 2 units of frozen meat and/or miscellaneous frozen items at each visit (subject to change based on inventory). No pre-signup is necessary, but a student ID is required.

The Housatonic Food Pantry is made possible through the efforts of the Housatonic Foundation, their generous donors, the Student Senate, CT FoodShare, plus, Stop and Shop.

Textbook Lending Library and Book Assistance

Housatonic students should never have to choose between buying textbooks and basic necessities such as food or rent. Many Housatonic students find themselves in this position. Textbook assistance costs range from $25 to over $250, and when combined with fees, tuition and other vital personal expenses, can make the pursuit of college programs prohibitive for Housatonic students.

Emergency Fund

The Housatonic Foundation Emergency Fund provides one-time assistance to Housatonic Home Campus students who are currently in class but facing sudden, urgent, and unforeseen financial crises. This immediate support helps students stay in college during challenging times.
Many students are just one unexpected setback away from leaving school. Faculty and staff consistently report that unexpected financial emergencies are a leading reason students drop out. In most cases, a crisis can be resolved with emergency funding of less than $250.
The Emergency Fund helps students avoid missing class or dropping out entirely by addressing small financial crises before they escalate into larger, more costly problems.
Eligible expenses include unexpected medical or dental bills,  professional childcare, and professional car repairs.
